Summary
- Nihongo Renshuu is a Japanese learning service that is still being developed. Some features work without an Account, some need an Account, and some are Premium only.
- One Account per person. Accounts may not be shared, lent or sold.
- Premium plans, prices and payment methods are shown before you buy. Premium is never charged automatically unless this is clearly stated before you pay.
- Premium payments are final and non-refundable. Make sure you understand the plan you choose before you pay.
- Content you create stays yours. Follow the community rules, because breaking them can lead to removed content or a suspended Account.
- Translations, transcripts and other automated features can be wrong. Use them for learning, not for official purposes.
- Exam practice on Nihongo Renshuu is not official exam material and does not guarantee a pass.
This summary is only a reading aid. The full Agreement below is what binds you and us.
1. About This Agreement
This User Agreement (the "Agreement") governs your access to and use of nihongorenshuu.com and all of its features and apps. It is a valid and binding electronic contract between you and Nihongo Renshuu.
You accept this Agreement when you create an Account, make a purchase, or keep using the Service after this Agreement has been shown to you. Our Privacy Policy forms an integral part of this Agreement.
If you do not accept this Agreement, please do not use the Service.
Some programmes or features, such as promotions and vouchers, may come with additional terms announced alongside them. Where those terms cover a matter specifically, they apply to that matter.

3. Our Service
Nihongo Renshuu provides tools for learning Japanese, such as a dictionary and translation, lessons, flashcards, practice questions and tests, videos and a community. The Service is still in development, so features may be added, changed or discontinued.
Some features work without an Account, some need an Account, and content or features marked Premium are available only while your Premium is active.
Features marked "coming soon" are not available yet and cannot be bought. We do not promise a release date for them.
If a change to the Service materially reduces the benefits of an active Premium plan, Section 16 applies.
Nihongo Renshuu is an independent learning service and is not affiliated with the organisers of any Japanese language or work skills exam, such as the JLPT, JFT-Basic and the Tokutei Ginou (SSW) exams, or with any government body. We use exam names only to describe what the practice covers. Practice questions are not official exam questions, and practice results do not guarantee a pass in any exam.
We work to keep the Service available, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, network problems or other reasons. We try to announce long planned maintenance in advance.
4. Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old, or any higher minimum age set by the law of your country, to create an Account. If you are a minor under the law of your country, you must obtain the consent of a parent or guardian before creating an Account, and that parent or guardian shares responsibility for your use of it. Children under 13 may only use features that need no Account, under the supervision of a parent or guardian. If we learn that an Account was created without meeting these rules, we may suspend or delete it.
You must give accurate information and an active email address that belongs to you, and verify it. Your name may be visible to other Members in the community. You may use a nickname, but you may not impersonate any other person or organisation.
An Account is for one person only. You may not share, lend, rent, sell or transfer your Account to anyone else. To protect Accounts, we may limit the number of devices or sessions that are active at the same time.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity carried out through your Account, unless that activity results from our fault or negligence. Tell us at once at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access to your Account.
We will never ask for your password or verification codes by email, message or phone. Changes to important Account details, such as your email address, may require extra verification.
6. Refund Policy
Before you buy, you can see the plan, price, period and benefits of Premium on the Upgrade page and the checkout page. By completing a purchase, you confirm that you understand what you are buying and that you ask for Premium to start immediately.
All Premium payments are final. Refunds are not available, including for unused time, a change of mind, or your decision to stop using the Service.
You may cancel an unpaid order at any time, free of charge.
Billing errors, such as a duplicate charge or a payment above the total due, will be corrected once verified. Report them to [email protected] within 30 days of the payment.
If Premium cannot be used for a long period because of our fault, we may extend your Premium period as compensation.
If the Service closes permanently, we will give at least 30 days' notice and give you the opportunity to request a copy of your data.
Purchases made through a third party app store, where available, follow that app store's refund policy.
This policy applies to the extent permitted by the law that applies to you. Consumer rights that this law does not allow to be excluded remain in force.
7. Permitted and Prohibited Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial learning.
You may share links to pages of the Service and quote small parts of Our Content for learning or teaching, naming Nihongo Renshuu as the source.
You must not:
- (a)share, lend or sell an Account or Premium access;
- (b)copy, bulk download, record, republish or sell Our Content, including lessons, questions, answer keys, flashcards, audio and transcripts;
- (c)extract data from the Service with bots, scrapers, crawlers or other automated means, except search engines that respect robots.txt;
- (d)get around access restrictions, usage limits, payment or security measures of the Service;
- (e)disassemble, decompile or reverse engineer the software of the Service, except as far as the law allows;
- (f)disrupt or overload the Service, including spreading malware or attacking our systems and network;
- (g)use Automated Features in unreasonable volumes or for purposes other than learning, including reselling their output;
- (h)use Our Content to train artificial intelligence models or to build a product that competes with the Service without our written permission;
- (i)send voice recordings or images containing other people's personal data without their permission; or
- (j)use the Service for anything that breaks the law or infringes the rights of others.
8. Community and User Content
Community features, such as the timeline, study groups and Member profiles, are available only to signed in Members.
Content you make public, such as a public notebook, can be seen by anyone together with your name as its creator, including Visitors without an Account.
You keep ownership of your User Content. By publishing it on the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, reformat and distribute your User Content within the Service, solely to operate and improve the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your Account, except for backup copies that are erased in the normal backup cycle.
You promise that you have the right to publish your User Content and that it does not break the law or infringe the rights of others, including copyright and privacy.
The following content is prohibited:
- (a)hate speech or hostility based on race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic;
- (b)pornography, sexual content and any form of child exploitation;
- (c)violence, threats, terrorism and encouragement of self-harm;
- (d)gambling, including promotion of online gambling;
- (e)hoaxes, fraud, phishing, illegal investments or pyramid schemes;
- (f)bullying, harassment, defamation or insults;
- (g)other people's personal data without permission, such as phone numbers, addresses and photos;
- (h)pirated content, illegal download links or leaked official exam questions;
- (i)advertising, promotion or spam without our permission;
- (j)narcotics, weapons and other prohibited goods or services; and
- (k)any other content that breaks the applicable law.
We do not check every piece of User Content before it appears, but we may review, hide or remove content, limit features and suspend Accounts that breach this Agreement. We also act on lawful orders from competent authorities. Group managers can manage their group's membership with the tools available.
Report content that breaks the rules to [email protected] with a link to the content and your reason. We act on valid reports as quickly as we can.
User Content is the responsibility of the person who created it, and Members' opinions do not represent Nihongo Renshuu.
9. Intellectual Property
Our Content, the Nihongo Renshuu name, logo and mascot, the design and the software of the Service belong to us or our licensors and are protected by the applicable copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. This Agreement does not transfer those rights to you.
Some data, models and software in the Service come from third parties or open sources and are used under their own licences. Those parts remain subject to their original licences, and nothing in this Agreement limits the rights you have under them. Third party content shown in the Service, such as videos, belongs to its respective owners.
We may use suggestions and feedback you send us to improve the Service without any obligation to pay you.
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] with your identity, proof of your rights, a link to the content and a statement that the information is true. We will look into it and take the content down if the claim is confirmed.
10. Automated Features
Automated Features help you learn, but their output can be wrong, incomplete or out of context. Double check any result that matters to you.
Do not rely on Automated Features for legal, medical, financial, immigration or employment decisions, and do not use them in place of a sworn translator.
How we treat the text, voice and images you send to Automated Features is explained in the Privacy Policy.
To keep the Service running smoothly for everyone, we may limit how often Automated Features can be used.
11. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. To delete your Account, send a request to [email protected] from your Account email, or use your Account settings once that option is available. We process it within 72 hours after verifying your identity. Deleting an Account is permanent and ends any running Premium plan without a refund.
We may warn you, limit features, or suspend or close your Account if you breach this Agreement, if the law or a competent authority requires it, or if it is needed to protect other Users and the Service. Our action will be proportionate to the breach.
Unless the law forbids it or it would put others at risk, we will tell you the reason by email. You may object at [email protected] within 14 days, and we will review the decision.
For serious breaches, such as payment fraud, selling or sharing Accounts for profit, child exploitation or attacks on the Service, we may close the Account immediately without refunding the remaining Premium period.
Provisions that by their nature survive the end of this Agreement, including Sections 9, 12, 13, 14 and 17, continue to apply.
12. Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided as is and as available. We work to keep Our Content accurate and useful, but we do not guarantee that the Service is always free of errors or interruptions.
Learning results and exam success depend on many factors outside our control. We do not guarantee a pass in any exam.
The Service may include links to or content from third parties. We do not control and are not responsible for their content or policies.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses, such as loss of profit, opportunity or reputation, arising from use of the Service.
To the extent permitted by law, we are also not liable for losses arising from:
- (a)User Content or the conduct of other Users;
- (b)use of Automated Features for purposes other than learning;
- (c)your failure to keep your Account secure; or
- (d)Force Majeure as described in Section 15.
Our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event, or USD 50 if you have never paid us.
The limits in this Section do not apply to losses caused by our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, and do not reduce rights that cannot be excluded by law, including your rights as a consumer.
14. Indemnity
You are responsible for third party claims, including reasonable legal costs, arising from your User Content or your breach of this Agreement or the law, and you release us from those claims, unless they arise from our fault.
15. Force Majeure
We are not in default if we cannot meet an obligation because of circumstances beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, epidemics, riots, war, widespread power or internet outages, large scale cyber attacks, failures of supporting service providers or government policies. In such cases we will inform you and restore the Service as soon as possible.
16. Changes to This Agreement
Because the Service keeps developing, we may update this Agreement. The effective date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
For material changes, we will notify you at least 14 days before they take effect, through the Service or by email. Changes that are not material, such as wording fixes or descriptions of new features, take effect when published.
Changes will not reduce the Premium benefits you have paid for during that paid period, unless required by law, an order of a competent authority, the end of a third party licence or security reasons. In such cases we will try to provide an equivalent replacement or extend your Premium period.
If you do not accept a change, you may stop using the Service and ask us to delete your Account before the change takes effect. By continuing to use the Service after the effective date, you accept the change.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
This Agreement is governed by the law of the place where Nihongo Renshuu is established, without excluding the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live.
Any dispute will first be settled amicably. Contact us at [email protected], and both sides will try to reach a settlement within 30 days.
If that fails, the dispute will be settled by the competent courts, unless the law that applies to you gives you the right to bring it in the country where you live.
18. General Provisions
This Agreement and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the other provisions remain in force.
If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not waived it.
You may not transfer your rights and obligations under this Agreement without our written consent. We may transfer them to a party that takes over the operation of the Service, for example in a merger or acquisition, with notice to you.
Notices to you are sent through the Service or to your Account email. Notices to us are sent to [email protected].
This Agreement is available in several languages. If the versions differ, the English version prevails.
19. Contact Us
For questions about this Agreement, Account help, payments, content reports or copyright complaints, contact us. We aim to reply within 3 working days.
